Muscle Relaxing Injections are a helpful solution for what we call ‘wrinkles in motion’. It is not however an effective solution for ‘wrinkles at rest’. Prolonged use of Muscle Relaxing Injections may help these ‘wrinkles in motion’ becoming wrinkles at rest. One ten minute treatment and you will notice an incredible difference in your fine lines and wrinkles between 2-14 days.
So what are Muscle Relaxing Injections?
Muscle Relaxing Injections are a purified toxin. By injecting tiny amounts into a specific facial muscle the targeted muscle then becomes relaxed causing the muscle to be inactive and weak. In this way it acts as a muscle relaxant immobilisng the unwanted line or wrinkle.
Are Muscle Relaxing Injections safe?
Muscle Relaxing Injections are a highly effective anti-aging treatment, the active substance, (botulinumtoxinA), has been used in medicine for many years. Initially it was used to treat Strabismus (lazy eye), Blepharospasm (a twitch of the eyelid). It was first approved by the American FDA in 1989. Muscle Relaxing Injections are widely used in children for treatment of Cerebral Palsy and is one of the most researched and studied drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.
Muscle Relaxing Injections are a prescription medicine that was approved by the FDA in April 2002, for cosmetic use. Since then it has been used in over 66 countries worldwide and is the most popular cosmetic procedure to date.
Why are Muscle Relaxing Injections so popular?
Hundreds of women and men choose Muscle Relaxing Injections here at Aesthetics House, not only for the natural achievable results, but for the quality of the procedure and product used.
What are the types of Muscle Relaxing Injections available?
Gone are the days where you receive a frozen face or a suprised look! Our clients are now asking for a far more natural appearance still with fantastic results. We can offer a Muscle Relaxing Injection treatment that involves tiny doses which are injected into the usual areas, such as the crows feet, forehead and glabellar areas.
If you would like a normal dose, one of our practitioners will use their professional technique to achieve long lasting but still very natural results without the frozen look. However, we can provide clients who want an even more minimal and more natural, or those who just don’t want it to last too long.
How does Muscle Relaxing Injections work?
Muscle Relaxing Injections works by blocking the impulses from the nerves to the facial muscles, and temporarily relaxes them so they don’t contract involuntarily. But don’t worry – your facial expressions are unaffected.
The muscles continue to react normally, allowing you to laugh, frown and show surprise – just without the wrinkles!
What can I expect?
The beauty of a Muscle Relaxing Injection treatment is that it’s a quick, safe and simple non-surgical procedure. It is injected directly into the muscles using a tiny micro-needle, so there is minimal discomfort.
How much downtime will there be/are there any risk?
There is also no down time or recovery – so you could even squeeze a treatment into your lunch break! Muscle Relaxing Injections are suitable for all ages – our clients range from those in their 20s to those in their 80s!
Side effects of this treatment are rare and usually mild and in one study less than 3% of patients experienced a problem. However you need to be aware of the following:
Immediately after the treatment, there will be some mild swelling and redness and this usually settles within a few hours, as with any therapy, there is always a risk of infection, but this is very uncommon. If infection does occur, report to your own doctor.
Bruising at the injection site may occur and can be exacerbated by Warfarin and Aspirin treatment. Occasionally, a temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow or double vision may occur, but it is usually resolved in few weeks. An eyebrow lift may occur, but can be corrected by a small additional injection of Botulinum Toxin. The relaxation of the forehead muscles may rarely increase the risk of sleep line development, but this may be resolved by treatment with Dermal Filler. Some experience a mild headache but tension headaches are usually improved.
Rarely, a transient numbness may occur in the treated area and extremely rare side effect is generalised weakness and fatigue. If you are prone to cold sores, treatment may precipitate an eruption. For reasons that are not understood, some people may be resistant to the effect of Botulinum Toxin and these treatments may not be as effective or as long lasting.
How many Muscle Relaxing Injection treatments will I need?
Within days of having your first treatment, you will see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, elimination of lines on the forehead and a softening of ‘crow’s feet’, with results lasting for three to four months (although this can vary in each individual).
To maintain your results, we recommend that you repeat your Muscle Relaxing Injection treatments every three to four months as the effects wear off. We have found that the effects tend to last longer in patients who have had several injections. For treatment areas speak to one of our expert practitioners.
Excessive sweating – Hyperhidrosis
A common, and often embarrassing condition, Hyperhidrosis (the medical term for Excessive Sweating) can affect both men and women of any age, although it often begins during the teens or twenties.
It has been estimated that up to 1% of the population has some form of Hyperhidrosis. The good news, however, is that it is easily treatable with Muscle Relaxing Injections.
Muscle Relaxing Injections approved in more than 75 countries and has been used therapeutically for 20 years to treat a variety of medical conditions, and is in fact one of the most widely studied and researched medicines in the world. Dosing specifically to treat excessive underarm sweating was given FDA approval in 2004. No longer do businessmen have to keep a jacket on in centrally heated rooms to disguise sweat stains on a shirt; or rush to the washroom and run their hands under the tap before meeting an important client!
How it works
Sweating is one of the most essential ways in which the body loses heat, however sufferers of Hyperhidrosis produce sweat in far greater amounts than that needed to control body temperature.
Symptoms of Hyperhidrosis include excessively sweaty palms, sweaty hands, armpits, feet or facial blushing.
Sufferers of Hyperhidrosis can produce a great amount of sweat, which means that the armpits may be constantly damp, making normal everyday activities difficult and causing embarrassment professionally and socially.
To treat Hyperhidrosis, small doses of Muscle Relaxing Injections are injected into the skin to block the actions of the nerves that supply the sweat glands; this then prevents the glands from producing sweat.
What can I expect?
To prepare for the treatment, the patient should:
• Shave the underarm area
• Stop using deodorants or anti-perspirants 24 hours prior to treatment
• Rest comfortably without exercise or hot beverages for approximately 30 minutes prior to treatment.
The treatment takes about 30-40 minutes and is fairly comfortable.
How many treatments will I need?
Different people respond differently to treatment. A clinical trial revealed that one week after treatment the average reduction in sweat production was 87% and 95% of patients found that sweating was significantly reduced.
Within the first week following treatment you should notice some change for the better. It takes about two to three weeks for the full effect to kick in, and it lasts for up to six months.
Over a period of several months the effects of Muscle Relaxing Injections will wear off. We recommend that you have a treatment every 6 months to keep the results at an optimum.

Migraine and Headaches
You’ll be familiar with the anti-ageing properties of Muscle Relaxing Injections, but it has another valuable use as a preventive treatment for chronic migraine.
While it can’t treat an acute migraine attack, Muscle Relaxing Injections for Migraines has been shown to help sufferers by significantly increasing the number of migraine-free days that they experience in a typical month, helping them to live a more normal life.
Muscle Relaxing Migraine Injections – How it works
Originally designed to treat muscle spasms, it was soon discovered that Muscle Relaxing Injection has massively beneficial affects on wrinkles and lines.
It works by effectively “freezing” and relaxing the muscle where most tension is present. At this stage, it is unclear exactly why Muscle Relaxing Injections helps migraines sufferers – but it does!
What can I expect?
During this procedure, several tiny pinprick injections are made in muscles of the forehead and neck.
How many treatments will I need?
Usually, patients begin to experience migraine relief from two to three weeks after their first Muscle Relaxing Injections. The treatment typically needs to be repeated every 12 weeks. Thereafter, the effect may increase and patients can experience three to four months of relief at a time before further treatment is needed.
Nefertiti Muscle Relaxing Neck Injection and Jaw lift
A well defined jaw line has been a sign of beauty since the time of the Egyptians. This advanced procedure creates a well toned, smooth, and lifted jaw line and is named after Queen Nefertiti of Ancient Egypt, whose bone structure continues to be admired in modern times.
As we age, the effects of gravity, genetics, and the environment cause our skin to slacken as we lose elasticity. Our bone structure becomes less visible as the taut contours of youth give way.
The Nefertiti Neck Lift redefines the elegant lines of the jaw and neck for a youthful, tighter, more contoured appearance.
A Muscle Relaxing Injection is injected along the lower jaw line to rebalance the underlying downward pulling muscles, providing a “lifting” effect in the neck and jaw area.
